Saprochaete Capitata Peritonitis in a Non-neutropenic Patient Without Underlying Malignancies: A Case Report

چکیده

Saprochaete capitata (S. capitata) is an opportunistic arthroconidial yeast-like fungus causing invasive infections in immunocompromised patients, mainly those with hematological malignancies and severe neutropenia. However, due to S. are extremely rare immunocompetent non-neutropenic patients. spp. microscopically characterized by arthroconidia hyaline-septated hyphae. known be intrinsically resistant echinocandins highly fluconazole. It suggested use amphotericin B or voriconazole (in monotherapy combination) as the gold standard treatment for systemic infections. We report a case of peritonitis fatal outcome patient without underlying malignancies. This highlights value direct microscopic examination stained smears prompt preliminary diagnosis fungal also aim emphasize importance early initiation appropriate antifungal patients infections, thus improving their therapeutic outcome.
